Default Anyone compare a Radial Stagebug SB4 vs Red-Eye Dee Eye?

I was at a local music shop and they had a Radial active acoustic direct box that I had never seen, the StageBug™ SB-4 Piezo DI. Seems interesting and I was offered a good price on it but I was wondering if anyone had compared it to the Red-Eye Dee-Eye (scroll to bottom of screen in the linked page).

I was thinking it would be a good thing to throw in my mando case for open mic nights instead of carrying my Tonebone PZ-Pre which needs a wall wart.

Both run off of 48V phantom power.

The StageBug has an Aux output while the Dee-Eye has an effects loop.

Any real life comparisons or opinions would be great!

    They are very different.

The Red-Eye has an input impedance of 1M vs 10M on the Radial.

The radial runs off 48v phantom only (no battery option).

The Radial has a ground-lift switch and HP filter.

They both sound fine - depending on the quality of the board you plug 'em into! Is this for a passive piezo transducer?

For active transducers other options might be preferable.

Oops, I see the impedance difference now! I had glanced at the spec sheet and read it wrong for the Dee Eye, please ignore my impedance comparison in my first post! (I edited it...)

I want to use this for a McIntyre Feather,
    Thanks

I would go with the Radial, personally. The higher input impedance would be preferable for that particular transducer and it is extremely good value too ($80 vs around $150). Like all Radial stuff, it is beautifully designed and manufactured.

Why not just get a CountryMan DI

No reason.... they're also excellent. The Type 85's are particularly good with passive piezo transducers - though you are now looking at around $250-$300 per channel. At the same kind of price the Radial PZ-DI is also outstanding. Any of them will work and sound absolutely fine. Of course, with all of these, you are at the mercy of whoever is on the desk to get it right - which is where, possibly, something that offers more 'local' control might be a better option. Just depends...

If this is what you mean it actually looks pretty nice, and can run on a 9V battery. But it does run about $100 more than the SB-4.

Stagebug SB-4 should run around $80 street in the US.

They are good little unit. Very compact. Very clean sounding.
