Re: If You Only Knew: The Best of Larry Rice
Props to Rebel for releasing this compilation. Larry Rice was a hardcore and talented bluegrass mandolin player and singer/songwriter. I will never forget learning his kick-off to "Banks of the Ohio", the first cut on one of his brother Tony's albums. It was like a university level course in bluegrass mandolin solo construction, using all the tools in the bag, yet was neither fast, flashy nor musically intimidating.
The cut "Never Meant To Be" is one of the rare songs penned by his brother Tony.
But Amsterdam was always good for grieving
And London never fails to leave me blue
And Paris never was my kinda town
So I walked around with the Ft. Worth Blues
