I had the same problem with marks on the headstock with my Micro. Perhaps the new clip on will make it easier to take off after tuning. Had the same problem with a Snark so now I take it off immediately after tuning.

I have ordered one for my violin and I am super excited to get it. I am not worried about marks as I remove it after tuning up, but I understand some folks leave it on while playing.
