Picks are funny things, aren't they? I use 1mm black nylon Dunlop, as bog-standard as you can get I guess, but I think you'll get a lot of very different choices here. Maybe most folks will use something a bit lighter than that for strumming?

My bouzouki responds best to a Dunlop gator .71mm. I prefer the Dunlop nylon 1.0mm on it, so me and it are at odds right now.

Dunlop Delrin .71. I also use for these acoustic guitars. I use the 1.14 for mandolin. The thing is they're cheap, an important factor as I'm always fishing them out of the dog's mouth!

I love the large pics that Tone-deaf-music sell on eBay, usually around a .46. You can buy a set, and ask for them all in the same size.

Cool Picks "Beta Sand," 0.80 mm. Finally found a pick that doesn't slip out of my fingers.

    same here...
I have the yellow for the mandolin - sometimes the fender pretend tortoiseshell ones that are a good bit thicker.

for me the larger a pick the better.. seems to be a common conclusion

Blue Chip TP-40 with no bevel. I tend to use the same pick most of the time on every fretted instrument I play (except ukulele), and the BC seems to do what I need. Little or no clack or clank when the pick hits the string, nice feel in the hand, doesn't wear down. I also use a Gravity Striker and a Wegen sometimes.

I use the large Fender Triangle picks medium gauge. And than I sand them by hand until they are somewhere in the middle between the medium and thin gauge.

Once I discovered Cool Pix with the abrasive spot on both sides to keep it from slipping out of hand, I've never gone back. I use the thin version. They are my only!!

For fingerpicking, I use Fred Kelly thumb picks; the ones with the skinny blade; and fingernails.

oh and yes, further to the tortex picks - I use those cause the texture plastic they're made of has never slipped out of my hand! Good example was last Thursday - 2x45min sets in 29 celsius indoors and no aircon. No picks dropped despite losing half my bodyweight in water!!
