I have a 1998 #58 F5. Great F5. I don't hear of him any. I see he is listed in the Builders section. Who else here has an Anderson?

the Anderson that works with Wayne Henderson, i think his mandos are great, and you cant beat the price they usually sell for. i have played quite a few of his at Galax Fiddlers (there are a lot in that area) and they have all been really super. if the man is learning from Henderson, he is learning it right!!
I own 2 Gerald Anderson mandolins. Here is the front of my F model, #93 which is one year old.

And here is the back with fancy one piece quilted big leaf back that I purchased from Spruce. I think Gerald's mandolins are a great value.

I have played Russ' Anderson and that thing is a great mando. Also a great bargain. The picture of the front doesn't do it justice as it has a really nice deep brown tint to it like the back picture.
If F-model mandolins have F-holes then why don't A-model mandolins have A-holes???
My new Gerald Anderson A model is #103 and is a dandy. It was completed 2 weeks ago. It is varnished, as is the F model. Here is the front.

Russ,
My F5 looks alot like yours in the front. "Fiddle" brown. Your F5 looks to have a 1 piece back. Mine is 2 piece. If I can figure out how to post pics that are "not too big", I will.
Bob
and here is the headstock

Yes Bob, my F back is one piece. Are you the original owner of #58?
New for this year's Wayne C. Henderson Music Festival is a mandolin contest. 1st prize is an Anderson F, 2nd prize is a Henderson A. For more info, go to www.waynehenderson.org

I bought it used from Charles Johnson/MWHQ in 2000. It has really opened up and has a super voice. Volume & tone....
Bob
Bob, I think I remember your mandolin. The original owner ordered it with a "chocolate" finish. No sunburst at all, right?
Russ Jordan
My #58 is solid "chocolate-fiddle" brown. Solid/one piece binding, gold hardware, 2 piece top & back.......beautiful.
Bob
I've known Wayne a long time..and 'ole Gerald has always been there plugging along on mandolins, while Wayne focuses more on guitars. Gerald "ain't the apprentice no more"

I realize this thread is ancient but I have an Anderson. Just thought I'd share. Pictures are on my profile here.
Perhaps our own Jim Simpson will post the Gerald Anderson F5 that that I sold him back in the '80's.
Chuck,
I know of have photos of the old Anderson but couldn't find them, it was #24. Here are a couple of photos that include the Anderson.

Man!! I would love to have an Gerald Anderson mandolin!
Spencer Strickland plays one with the Kenny and Amanda Smith band and it sounds incredible!

I am sure Gerald can build you one!
Yep, the one Spencer plays (which is actually Gerald's personal mandolin) is a dandy!
Russ Jordan
I've got one too and they are mighty fine and powerful F5 style mandolins. A true value from an independant luthier that learned his craft from one of the best.
Found a couple of photos of my old Anderson, I believe it was #24. I wonder who ended up with it. I would like a chance to play it again to see how it would sound to me now.

I bought Gerald's #7 f-style off of ebay in 2005. I wouldn't trade it for anything sound wise. I really like the sound that I can get out of compared to any other mandolin that I've played. It's got a lot of wear on it but no dents in the wood. It was built in 1984.
Mine is No. 76 made in 2002. Very light weight and real Loar like sounds in it.
