Look at "Meetup" for Raleigh area. Not mandolin specific but many acoustic guitar gatherings that welcom a mandolin player.
There's a bg jam every other Wednesday at a fellow's garage in Hillsborough, off old NC86. I'll get you the info soon.
Londy -
Just visiting or have you relocated?

I know there is a bluegrass jam in downtown Raleigh at The Busy Bee, I think 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. I've only been once, but they seem to be short on mando players, but it is a lively jam for sure in a nice bar. As a resident of Raleigh, I am also interested in any other jams going down!

I'm in Chapel Hill, and up to jam most anytime. Let me know if you'd like to get together. I also host some open jams on meetup: http://www.meetup.com/TriangleBluegr...sicCooperative

Hi Dave-
Is the Chapel Hill slow jam on your meetup page the one at the Carrboro Arts Center? I have heard of that one but never been. Trying to find a slow jam to get started. Thanks!

Londy, now that you are in NC, you might want to go to the Mt. Airy Fiddlers Convention, usually held the first full weekend in June.

I know quiet a few players from Chapel Hill and Durham that attend.
Welcome to Cackalacky,
Charley
A bunch of stuff with four strings
The Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival is coming up soon in Pittsboro. http://shakorihillsgrassroots.org
And then there is Pine Cone - the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music - tha does some great stuff. https://www.pinecone.org
Enjoy. There is a great music scene around the Triangle, including excellent work by WUNC - I think Back Porch with David Brower.

I have not been on the cafe lately...actually, my attendance is rare anymore. I wanted to give thanks folks for the info you provided on this thread. I get the alerts via email so i do check back. So far, Chapel Hill is really a wonderful place. Very happy I made the move. I have started attending jams and one in particular thanks to David Cottingham, a wonderful host! I will continue to explore the area and I really appreciate all of your help with helping me find jams around here.

No, ours are almost always at private homes. There is, or use to be, a big one at the Nightlight on Rosemary. Looks like you've already got plugged in to ours, look forward to seeing you!

Hi,
I'm in Carrboro, NC....across the tracks from Chapel Hill, but nonetheless a very cool town for mandolin!
I've been out of action for a few years and just started playing out again. I'm at The Station in Carrboro every other Wednesday night with Mahalo Jazz. I'm always interested in meeting local mando enthusiasts and organizing a jam sounds like exactly what I need to get the old fingers cranked up again and meet some new musicians in town.
Come on down to the Station one of these every other Wednesdays, 7PM - 9PM and lets hook up. I think out next gig there is 5/28.
Tony

Hi there! I've been occasionally attending the Pine Cone jams at Busy Bee, but would definitely be willing to come out to Chapel Hill for another one!
