Default Another Gibson with super-cool silkscreen logo

There's a batch or two of Gibsons circa 1907 with an interesting silkscreened logo on the headstock. I don't know why they're not inlaid like most other Gisbons, but the results are attractive nonetheless. Here on eBay is another A-style with that logo. I'd ask for more photos if I were serious about buying it:

I hate ads and listings with no detailed description and only one picture. Never seen that logo before. Gives me pause.

We've seen that logo here a few times, it might be the same mandolins I don't know. The south jersey pickguard and all pretty much dates it. I'm wondering if it was attempt to save manufacturing costs that went away until the 30's when someone decided to do it again.

Not exactly uncommon. I've probably seen 6-7 in person. The image above is one that was at Mass Street Music for years that Dan and I had purchased and had refurbished as a project. He has a link somewhere on his site to all of them with that logo. Pix of the complete project:

Oh yes those are the real deal. rather cool and pretty rare to see, needs to be somewhere between 5000-8000 serial roughly. Matches letterhead and so forth, and adds that extra layer of cool to the orville label dressing and pineapple tailpiece I think!

Yeah, too bad the present example has a later TPC.

Hmm, are you sure? strange perspective in that picture, but I think it's just a very shiny pineapple one

My first impression was that it was a highly polished pineapple but when I enlarge it I'm not sure. It sure looks newer.

I think the tailpiece is just shinny. I never heard of anyone making repro pineapple tailpieces, especially engraved ones. Everything else, including the logo, looks right to me.

I don't think it's a repro pineapple, I'm not sure it's a pineapple. I want to see a pineapple there but when you blow it up I'm not so sure it is a pineapple.

That puts that to bed. I just glanced through the Mandolin Archive. There definitely are two varieties of Pineapple tailpiece covers. There are the shiny ones that look like this with the letters that appear to be punched not engraved and then the less shiny covers where the lettering of the logo is crisper and looks to have been engraved. Some have the hole above the logo, some do not.

EDIT: thought I recognized that one. It's the one Dan and I bought and had saved. Working its way back through the system, a good thing.

Another early Gibson silkscreen script logo that just hit eBay. Very badly in need of medical attention. This may appear to be a Monroe-like attempt to hide the Gibson logo but really just a horrible amateur repair job. I might try to grab this one to resurrect if it doesn't get too ridiculously high. Or at least I hope someone else does.

Just happened to run across another one of these logos on eBay. I think they're really cool. This one starting at $800 with a reserve isn't something in my interest and if I was I'd certainly need to see better pictures. Definitely in need of some restoration love.
