Re: Anybody put a CA bridge on their J. Bovier?

I have a bovier special and while I didn't put a CA Bridge on, I did however make a series of bridges from Red Henry's page and these made a HUGE impact on the sound. The mando was overall much...

Re: Monroe's Break to "Back Up and Push"

Re: Monroe's Break to "Back Up and Push"

"Feeling" is the epicenter of monroes playing. Remove feeling from his style and you have joe Carr!

I admit I have not seen the Carr lesson but have seen Sam playing Monroe and lost interest in...

Re: Monroe's Break to "Back Up and Push"

His break in that tune is Genius, my only advice is to slow it down and play one note at a time. Mac users can use Garage Band, pc users, well, go by a mac!

Anyway for all things Monroe look here....

Re: Pics of JBovier Mandos Please...

I HATE the phrase "good for the money". It's simply an excuse for buying a pack rim instrument.

My bovier special is a wonderful instrument that I would put up against other builders with few...

    Re: Overpriced mandolins ...

Brad, I don't think that's very nice. The OP was mearly pointing out what has been discussed here at length; that some mandolins are very much over priced and whether you agree with the OP or not...
  15. Re: Is it wrong to correct a poster's spelling or grammar?

    Re: Studying Bill Monroe

Wow, there's a lot of input here. But here's my thoughts.

In order to learn Monroe's music you have to LISTEN to Monroe's music. For me that meant NOT listening to anything else so when my brain...

You CANNOT go wrong with a bovier. Talk to Kyle at the mando shop. Mine is fantastic and I don't care if it was under a grand.
