Thanks, all. It's a great instrument and I'm a lucky guy. :-)
I managed to lose the first photos of this mandolin and thought I'd repost more recent ones. Here's a compilation of some from today and from 2008. Built in June 2003, it will be 10 this year and has...
Thanks, John. Though I didn't know you in person, you were kind enough to share your knowledge and humor with me. For this I am grateful. I'm grateful, too, for all the ways you helped so many...
This is simply one tool, folks. If you like it great. If not, move along and thanks for your time.
Thanks, Martin!
To make a long story short, if you discovered a hot young talent who didn't know how good he already is or could be (nor did his family), how would you ethically handle things?
Long story: I am...
I've not really studied the piano, either, though our family had a piano throughout my childhood and young adulthood. Now, my son is in his fourth year of study, so I do know my way around the...
I've done this with the fretboard for bass as well (just reverse the order of strings). It's simple and helps me recognize patterns when playing or when I only have time to study.
I'm not sure if others have done this, so I figured I'd post this for the benefit of others. All natural notes are in white and all sharps/flats are in black - just like on a piano.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I really think this new app deserves a review. It's a great learning tool that's very flexible and very, very well engineered. I have no financial interest...
Understood, Charlie!
What Charlie said, especially about auditioning a mic in your own system. What you hear is the product of the whole system, not just the input, the mix/process, or the speakers. What I also like...
Yes! Version 2.0 with presets and much more flexibility is now out.
Avi, I think I mentioned this before, but being able to save settings and recall them quickly would be a very useful, time saving addition.
Transcribe! does a great job at slowing down, looping, and much, much more. No financial interest - just a very happy customer.

Check out the mini-videos of a variety of patterns and mutings possible.
Great, Rob! I like the concept a lot and have already found it useful. There will be upgrades, I'm sure. He's already vastly improved the user interface.
