Wow, they're terrific! Thank you! :)
Nice! I've got one too. Fun instruments, with an interestingly different sound. I tend not to do much more than noodle around on mine, but I really enjoy having it to experiment with.
I just responded to your PM, Cliff, but for the general record, I think Busker guitars are outstanding value, and Robin (who runs the outfit) is an excellent and really nice guy to deal with. NFI --...
Yes. looks great. Would love to hear a clip too.
I agree. Trust your ear. Anyway, when you're playing that song, it's your music, so what sounds right to you is right. :)
I had the same hand pain when I started playing mandolin after years of playing guitar, but I don't get it any more. I thought it was to do with smaller size of the mando neck, plus a tendency to...
Nice! What strings are you using on your RM-1 that work so nicely tuned down?
Yep, that's the perfect description. :) There's a RM-1 social group here if you have any questions about the National. They are excellent mandos. That Aussie reso looks very pretty though-- I can...
Nice review Bill, thanks. I've been eyeing them up for a while, wondering what they're like.
I think it looks great too!
Yes, really nice music. Great links -- thanks.
Nice! Gary Nava makes great instruments -- congratulations! Would love to hear a sound clip. :)
Nice playing bluesmandolinman! Now I'm really looking forward to the book arriving ...
Only just caught up with this brilliant thread. Thanks for the clips Fretsman - those guys are excellent! :)
Great thread! I hadn't heard about the book, but have just ordered it from Elderly too (since it doesn't seem to be available here in the UK). While I was there, since I have no self-control, I also...
That looks really helpful -- thanks! :)
I can't help with the tenor question, but I've got a Gold Tone open-back 5-string banjo (Bob Carlin model, 12" pot) and it's an really good value banjo. I got it secondhand, and the tuners were...
:cool::cool:
Great stuff catmandu2. In that 2nd clip, the jug player really shows what can be done with it!
I hadn't heard of him, and just had a look on Youtube --really good fun stuff! Like it so much, I've just ordered one of his CDs. Thanks for the link.
Wow, that's amazing! It look brilliant. Please please please sound clips as soon as you can!
I love JB stiff too, and had a great conversation on another forum with some older musicians who tried to teach me (online) how to play the jug. :)) Then I went out with an artist friend who used to...
Has the Ozark arrived yet Cliff?
My reso mando is the National RM1. I'll bring it to the session next time I come, but odds on that won't be the next session -- I'm working that weekend. :(
Uh oh! I am planning a trip to Hobgoblin. How did it sound?
That looks like Wunjos in Denmark Street. (I live in London too.) Nice guys in Wunjos -- really friendly.
I've got a Capek A4 and it's terrific. Finish is perfect, tone is stunning. I recommend you give them a try if you can. I wouldn't part with mine for anything.
Yes, wow! And only three strings too -- very impressive.
