    help identify a 5-string e-mando?

    Hey all,

A family friend just picked up this 5 string electric mandolin. They were apparently told it was a "Fender HM" but that is obviously not correct. Anyone have any idea who made this?

  7. Re: Wanting to try a cittern (esp. Nordwall) in California/West C

Tuning is CFCGCD low to high, with octaves on the lower courses.

I had to have it repaired a little bit, the bridge developed a humidity crack after a particularly hot day in a car (my fault), but...

    Re: Arrow Mandolin, and strings

I owned an Arrow G style long scale from like 2004 through 2009. I used Thomastik-Infeld Stark strings on it on occasion. Reduced the volume somewhat but a sweet, mellow tone and easy play. They...

    Re: your mandolin ownership history

    This is a cool topic:

    1. Hondo cheap plywood thing (owned in 2003) - loaned to various friends
    2. 1918 Gibson A pumpkin top (2003-2005) - traded to my dad, who later fell down the stairs on...
  20. Re: Loving my Red Diamond "Vintage '22" F5

Second the notion about playability - this is the best playing and intonating flat board mandolin I've ever played.

  22. Loving my Red Diamond "Vintage '22" F5

I've had my new baby, Red Diamond #190, one of his vintage 1922 "Crusher" voiced F5, for about a month now and all I can say is that Don MacRostie's reputation for nailing his Loar voicings is...
