My KM-900, an older model, is triple-bound both side and top on the body. Serial number is 09012003.
I bought a 'used' KM-900 from the classifieds about two years ago. One of the earlier models, with the larger, lighter shaded sunburst, and triple binding on both front and back. Other than the...
Harry West used to sell his instruments out of his apartment in the Bronx, in New York City.
The Ozark Rag.
Dave Apollon's F-5 has what may be an original shaped, red interior case.
Ummm.... that 1942 F-4 does not seem to have an 'elevated' fingerboard (i.e. - raised off the top plate), but rather a truncated fingerboard......
The price was pretty good..... not in the Blue Chip range for same thickness... i'll post after test drive...
I just ordered two (1mm & 2mm) from rjl. we'll see...
I had a 1924 Virzied F-4 that had the amber buttons on what I was told were Waverly tuners. They were pretty ones.
A friend of mine in New England had an early Monteleone F-5 copy that had 'The Gibson' on the peghead. They exist. I spoke to John in the mid - 1980's about building me an exact copy of #73987,...

You are an all-around great guy!!! Thanks for all the woodwork/restoration projects you've done for me; and #38 is certainly in that mix!!!! 97241 Nice wood....
I had originally thought 1917, but F5Loar has the Spann book and he researched it and it is most likely built in 1914 and shipped in 1915, based on serial # & FON.
I have a set of Thomastik Starks...

This is a rare one; probably unplayed for 90 years. Still has original flat-wound strings. Case is immaculate also. Not a spot of rust or tarnish on hardware. Virtually no fret wear. Only thing...
Just thought I'd share the newer of the new acquisitions. Pictures of the older one soon.

I had Lynn Dudenbostel make me a replica of the A-5 pickguard and install it on my KM-900. Installation is not a D-I-Y project. It took Lynn the better part of two hours to correctly position the...
I have the prototype for Rolfe's Bluegrass Models, #164, the blonde one, and a later custom Bluegrass Master Model, #301.
They both share the same traits of being very light, from use of...
I listened to a bunch of your pipe tunes... excellent job!
He has used an ornate 'D' on some instruments, tho, not on mine, #38.
I have a good selection of the above, as does F4Loar, and we both own KM-900s as well. Mine was used; F5Loar's is new. We both agree they (Kentucky 990s) are a great bang for the buck and have a...
I think in Hartford's song "The Cross-eyed Child, John talks about Monroe in the hospital and Bill tells john to come here because he has a new tune for John. Or some such.....
