    That could be a good point about the tight nut slots. It happened on both E strings. I made the nut out of bone, and didn't really use good nut files for the slots. That very well could be.

    I have played mandolin professionally since I was 17 years old, and I'm 41 now. I guess I really don't know how you're supposed to wind strings on the post.

    I NEVER had problems with the E string...

    My mandolin got to Audey Ratliff's last Monday via UPS. They were holding it over the weekend because of the weather. I haven't talked to Audey but I assume it's ok.
