Chris Thile announces new PHC house band

It looks like the only one making the cut from the old band will be Rich Dworsky. I'm glad he'll still be there. The rest are familiar names though....

    Re: Remembering Jerry Garcia

I can't call myself a DeadHead but I do have the Extra Large version (3 CDs) of the Pizza Tapes in my truck CD player right now. It was a great loss.

Re: Anyone NOT like Blue Chip picks?

I have a BC TAD-1R 60. I love it. It's a great pick but, on mandolin, my favorite are Wegen Trimus picks. 2.5 or 3.5. I should add that I have fairly large hands.

Re: Dudes Gils and the "Loar tone"

I'm in the group that believes a portion of the value of an item can belong to a variety of intangibles. A modern Ford Mustang can out perform many of its predecessors. But take an old Mustang,...

Re: "...for Dummies" books any good?

I have a few beginner's mandolin books. MFD is the best of the bunch by far. I don't have the exercises book yet.

    Re: Bevelled Edge Picks?

This Hawk pick vid may help a bit. It shows picking hand position relative to bevel.

    Re: Bevelled Edge Picks?

Whichever hand you use and whether or not your wrist is higher or lower than the strings the idea is that the leading edge is the one with the bevel. So a left-handed person, who hits the strings...

    Re: it's official

Making a statement now, in a company that old, may or may not prove true in the fullness of time. Zildjian (cymbals) was founded in 1623 and they are still going and changing. You never know what a...

I used to. I live somewhere fairly humid. Things down there where too humid for my instruments. It really depends a lot on where you live.
