Shorty,
Don't sweat it too much, you'll do fine. I just graduated from ETSU last May (where I was in the BG program too) and had to go through a few of those tryouts. They're basically a way for...
Did anyone else read the fine print at the bottom of the page?
Shhh... don't let the secret out!
I've had to layoff 'the hub' until I get a new computer. The shows I have average about 500 or mb each (some are more, some are less), which eats up the...
you left out Dark Star!:mandosmiley:
Welcome to the A5-Jr. club. Mine was built in 87, just before Flatiron was bought by Gibson. It's about as plain-jane as they come, but it more than makes up for it in the tone department.
Here are a few live tracks I've posted before (I've also got a copy of the U of Wisky show, send me a PM if you want)

I've got a tab of the mandolin intro and break as played by Pee Wee Lambert on the original Stanley Bros. recording (it's in the key of D by the way). Send me a PM if you want me to e-mail it to you.
Nice find, you don't see many of those either (on an unrelated note, I noticed your avatar. It's a shame about Popcorn isn't it?)
There looks to be a good deal on a pre-Gibson A5-Jr in the classifieds right now. Those older Flatiron A styles, especially the tone-bar braced Jr's (a little biased here), are great mandolins.
Rowan was (and is) awesome, his playing on the live recording of 'Walls of Time', with those powerful bass runs, is perfection to my ears. Oh yeah, along with those already listed, I'd also consider...
That's what I've noticed too, here's a video of a new Duff F5 being played

I've also noticed that some of the old snakehead Gibson's have the punchier, cutting type of tone (my A-Jr does, that's for sure).
Way to go, Charlie, good to see she's healthy and all is OK. Having a 6-month old daughter myself I'll think you'll soon find little girls are awesome.
I like the Loar-style body, too. Don't see those much.
it's hard to tell but it looks like a snakehead A-Jr. to me (if this was the one you were talking about).

The Bush models are definitely sweet and probably my favorite signature model Gibson makes. Here's a pic of Sam's personal mando with the Fern inlay (like the one pictured above) that I took back...
That's what it looked like to me, maybe it was Ralph Rinzler's (Mon was known to use it from time to time, mostly in "Get Up John" tuning from what I understand).

Just to add a little to Lynn's post, the Bradbury Jam is held at the Bradbury Community Center every Tuesday and third Saturday of the month. The Buttermilk Road exit is 360 (you'll see the Soaring...
It's a great sounding (and very distressed) mandolin; I got a chance to play it over at Will's when he was having it set up a while back. The new Parsons he got is also a wonderful mandolin, nice...
We sure can fix that, here's a large inflatable pig for ya!
There wasn't much difference between the FF and F9 I got to play a while back. The FF had a more Gibson-ish tone, a lot darker and more punchy sounding than you would normally associate with a...
You ever up in Kingsport? I'd like to check those three out!
