This is funny. Jack is a major contributor to the Telecaster Forum. He asked the question there and I suggested he post here to see if someone knew.

My first from scratch too. Spruce, poplar, oak neck, hollow, mahogany/oak bridge, piezo pickup. Took 26th place in a competition.

Hey Dave,
You look familiar! Nah can't be. Well, maybe it is you. Hummmpphnhhhh. Yep, it's you. I played the video and it's you. I lurked for a while to just like over at TDPRI. I joined. Don't know...
Very peaceful. Nice job.
The first funeral that I was ever asked to perform at featured this song. I had never heard it (I was 18) and my family group had to get a cassette to play and learn it....
??? :))
I started when I was about 40. I played guitar before that. I started learning the chords first and strumming. I've never taken a lesson. I don't guess that I play mandolin like most do...
Hey Dave!
Yeah, pix would be great!
Can you post pictures?
Thanks guys. Yeah, I wanted to build something reliced and I was trying to match it to the guitar and bass in the video. I also recieved a PM about the amp. In the video I'm playing through a Fender...
OK, I'll play. Mine are all piezoed electrics. I had to have ole Grandpa Bass too. I'm working on the resonator which is due sometime this year.

I had gotten really caught up in all of the instrument forums that I was frequenting. It was taking up too much of my time, so I took a little time off from several of them. However, the Telecaster...

Yes he will do necks. I talked with him also. However, I have been unemployed for a year now and it was way outta my price range. I built these two out of necessity. It was a good thing though. It...
Where can I get a bridge like this one or similar to go on a project mandolin?
Also would a piezo fit in the bridge under the saddle? I know they make them for guitar but what about mandolin?
...
So I decided to learn to make necks. Here is my first attempt. Two at a time.
Top is a hollowbody, telecaster shaped, 8 stringer. Wood is poplar and spruce. (because it was available and cheap)....
Hmmm. I dunno. Maybe take up harmonica?
Journeybear I had to get out the special dictionary to understand your technical terms. My mandolin "scoothes" all over my belly when I play.:whistling:
The second neck that I started was routed for the truss rod. I did it while the neck was still rectangular. I haven't put the fretboard on yet. I have about an hour's time invested in the one...
My main problem comes from the trusrod and frets. I don't know how to make a rod to fit a work properly. I've watched some youtubes but I still don't get it. I've made a neck that looks pretty good...
No, no problem with the neck. I want to build an emando and haven't gotten comfortable with building the neck yet. I was hoping that I could pick up a neck like you do for an eguitar. Nope, too...
www.eastwoodguitars.com can't get me one.
Haven't heard back from Tom yet.
I found the link after I posted and sent an email. Haven't heard back yet. I check at Moongazer.
Anyone know where I can get a replacement neck for an Eastwood Mandocaster?
Luthier to me is just a word used to define someone that builds the instruments. It's not a title. I've done the medical things with my children too. In fact, I once became an EMT. I still didn't...
When I started I went online to find chords. I can't remember the site now but I learned from there. Then I started playing with other folks (not mandolin pickers though). I couldn't find any...
I agree. I luthier is someone who builds instruments. My dad was a preacher for many, many years and had no formal training or schooling. But he was a good preacher. (still is)
Probally let your...
I've built a few guitars and have been asked to distress them. One guy wanted me to build him a 4 stringer that he could play with a slide. He wanted it to look like it was old and had been...
