  2. Re: converting this sweet Tomo from Uke to Mando... what strings

Buy them both. It'll cost about $1.50 for a single string each, so experimenting is pretty cheap. Get a string winder and you could do some rapid A-B testing.
  3. Re: converting this sweet Tomo from Uke to Mando... what strings

Looks like he's gonna need shiny silver ones since it's an electric instrument. Your friendly music dealer should be able to sell you singles in any gauge. (Check Eastwood's mandola specs.) I assume...
  4. Re: converting this sweet Tomo from Uke to Mando... what strings

The Eastwood Mandola has a similar scale length. Check out their string gauges: http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/Other/airlineMandola/mandola_frm.htm

Re: Boulder Alpine Series Gig Bag..

My son had an upright bass gig bag with similar problems. The shoe repair shop in town was able to sew the handle back on, as they had a heavy duty sewing machine. i think it cost 20 bucks.

Re: What's the use of an e-mando?

An e-mando with a headphone amp makes motel room stays a bit more fun. And, if you need a metronome, the dripping faucet in the Motel 6 bathroom can be useful, although you may need to see several...

  13. Re: Is it possible to get an "in tune" mandolin?

I wonder if fanned frets are possible for such a short scale length. And, how about the Buzz Feiten Tuning System? (It's way different from the tuning I have on my Mando-Bird IV--the Feiten Buzz...
