Oh my! Where has this been all my life!
I love it, and i love Ronnie's playing as well. My only gripe is that I spent a lot of time learning tunes that no one else plays. Try calling out some of these at a jam only to have everyone shrug...
Maybe think about where you are picking, try moving away from the bridge if you want to mellow it out a little.
I'll second that.

The Eastman 505 also has a cast tailpiece and schaller tuners, while the 305 has economy tuners and a stamped tailpiece.
I understand your frustration, however I respectfully disagree with your evaluation. I've taught more than a few absolute beginners on guitar, banjo, bass and most importantly mandolin. All in a ...
This is especially true when you take into account the visual aspect of reading standard notation. At least that was what I was told when I asked my music theory professor waaaaay back in college.
I think its safe to say that humans did not invent music, but rather discovered it. The tones, pitches, scales and harmony all occur naturally, we simply recognized and observed various relationships...

Those are some lucky folks for sure. Caught a show on the boat ride home.
Yes, I have taken many side trips along the way, mostly learning how to properly set up, sharpen and correctly use my tools. The process is very enjoyable to me.
I starting building because I could never afford a high dollar instrument (and for the record, anything over 1000 bucks I consider high dollar) The satisfaction makes it more valuable than anything i...
I think it's important to draw attention to the video clip. She goes out of her way to name The Steeldrivers 2 to 3 times in her introduction. I don't think it's going to send a whole lot of converts...
Start with a couple of guys or gals, learn a few tunes. It doesn't have to be flashy, just solid. Then you invite the rest of the world. When other folks arrive they hear good music, they can sit...
Key of D
2 sharps "F" and "C"
Key of A would have 3 sharps "F" "C" and "G" there is a strong emphasis on "A" because it is the fifth in the key of D and it works very nicely over the D chord.
I play way less guitar than I used to, but all the time spent with the mando has vastly improved my guitar playing.
Well I checked with a friend with more knowledge and he said it was definitely wind shake. While I am a bit bummed at having to start over, it is a decision I am happy with. I am looking to making...
I think It was shake. I cut it apart at the joint, and the crack extended down into the wood. That wasn't the issue so much as the wavy cut on the wedges and some warping. Once I got a square edge...
I won't say where I got it, but I will say I won't be shopping there again. The wood was cheap, the two piece tops seemed random rather than matching, and I wasn't pleased overall. This whole...
Thanks Dale. There is some movement, and it definitely seems to have seperated. I have scrapped it. What a waste of money.
Perhaps I'm confused, and I don't know the right term. I'm trying to post a photo, but all I have is this iPad, and I can't figure out how to attach a photo.
I roughed out the top with a gouge,...
After a night of shaping and scraping I've got a nice 2 inch gouge across the top that appears to be runout. Is this cause for tonal concern. My inclination is to just do the best with it and attempt...
