glasses,
I get a pretty loud chop from mine. It's an interesting sound. Less pick noise than you would think with such a heavy pick. The pick just sorta glides thru the strings for me.

I'm with Brent. CT55 is my fav. I take it everywhere. I'm too afraid I'll lose it if it's not on me at all times. Seriously though, it is the cat's behind!
Yes, I've heard that as well. I just smile and keep playing-whatever key we're in!
Congrats and Welcome! I got my first Mandolin last year after playing guitar and bass for about 20 years. I Love it! Other than recording accompaniment for Mandolin leads, I hardly ever touch the...
So, what happened? Who won???
Etiqutte! Absolutely. I've learned that a good player or group of players understand dynamics and they look at the jam as a complete work of art with each piece contributing to the final product....
Got mine yesterday (CT55). All I can say is wow. This really is the best pick I have ever seen. It literally glides through the strings. I played for hours last night!
Now if only I can keep from...
Ha! 10-4!
OK. So I've been reading about BC for a while and finally broke down and bought one today. I ordered the CT55 RH Bevel. Can't wait to try it out. I'll let Y'all know about it when it gets here.
I...

Thanks for the info. Something I'll definately look into.
"aside from, say, not dropping/stepping on it"
Ha! Funny thing is I have horrible fear of setting it down in a chair some where and...
I'm game for that! I'm working on a project of my own recording old time gospel songs with guitar, bass, and mandolin. I Love that Old Time Gospel!
Ok, so I gotta ask. I'm sort of a new player (about a year) and while I realize it is important to look after your instrument, is humidity really that important? What are the most damaging results...
When I was first shown that chord, I thought, why bother. Why not just play the 2 finger G (0023) and use a palm mute when you need the chop. That was the Guitar player in me talking AND I had no...
I have become OBSESSED with the Mandolin. I Love mine and I want MORE!

Shotgun,
I own a MM. It came set up from the dealer, but personally I don't think they did a good job. I'll explain in a bit. Some of the posters have mentioned that MM's don't get...
Ahh! Tequila and a beer chaser also helps me "relax" when practicing or gigging!
Seriously though, I think good and a relaxed approach are very important. It's kind of difficult for me, because...
Thanks Martin and Fred. I think it's just the way I angle my hand, perhaps my thumb placement as well. I'll check out the video when I get home (can't do it at work). Also, I think I'm just tensing...
Let me ask this question, moving to the left hand. I came from a guitar background and believe I'm having strength/endurence/cramping problems with my left hand when playing chords for extended...
Man you said it there! I saw Del and his band perform at an outdoor venue a couple of years ago. They were consumate pros. Suites and ties, excellent musicianship and showmenship. The sound was...
Ha! Love the kayak story! I bet it was quiet.
Nice work! I'd Love to be able to do that someday. Maybe a project for me in the future sometime. Who knows...
But again, great work. That's beautiful instrument!
Ha Ha! Now THAT is funny! Enjoy!...
Same thing happened to me. Once I started playing Mandolin, my Basses and Guitars have been jealous! There is DEFINATELY something about the Mandolin. I have never obsessed over or been so facinated...
