You should call yourselves "Two Outta Three Ain't Bad".
(I'm not insinuating anything, I just think it would be funny and memorable.)

  6. Ponies in the Forest - Gilchrist M3 and Smart Dreadnought

I have been having some fun recently doing some recording, and this is the latest. The tune was written by John Reischman. I believe that John recorded this in GDAD tuning, as I can hear an open D...
  7. Re: A cup of tea and a chat with Steve Gilchrist

I had a great afternoon with Steve last week, and found myself with a serious dose of "workshop envy." I got some of your questions in, and added a few of my own.

    Re: Mandolin and space travel

A mandolin would make more sense for space travel, being that bit smaller.
It would also be a good chance to finally establish whether downstrokes are louder because of gravity or just wrist action...

Re: Beginner, Is this mando worth $200?

No brainer. Ask for pictures that will help you check for the things that Bill mentioned... then buy it. If the aesthetic build quality is any indication, this is probably a LOT of mandolin for the...
  14. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds for mandolin

I teach a mandolin playing class at the high school where I teach. This song has been a hit among the students, so I thought I'd make a video for them to reference. Then figured I'd share it here. ...
