Another vote for the Little Martin "Koa". Nice looking, playing and sounding. I put an $18 Planet Waves O-Port in mine and it is a joy to hear. John

Looks to be that the most important issue is not being addressed. This young woman was willing to trade away her grandmother's mandolin for cash so she could go gamble. I would love to have...

Re: I don't like the sound of tremolo.

Because of the short scale length of the mandolin and almost total lack of sustain, I find tremolo absolutely necessary. Even an electric mandolin with a great sustain pedal just can't give me what...

Re: How Often Do You Play With Other People?

Living 7000 ft. up in the High Sierra Mountains, I am probably the best guitar picker and the ONLY mandolin guy for 40 miles. I did recently have a part timer buy the cabin next to me that has an...

    Re: banjo-mandolin vs. mandolin-banjo

I've got three banjos. A five string, a six string and an eight string. I am slightly insulted ( O.K,, not really ) of saying that ALL mandolin banjos sound awful. Mine is from about 1920, built...

I always felt there was a special bond between Jamie and yourself. After his, what I hope was amiable departure, have you two stayed in touch?

  19. Re: What if.... Mike Marshall played with... Tommy Emmanual

I played a Tommy Emmanuel DVD for a fellow guitar picker today that had never heard of him. He sat slack jawed and in awe of Tommy. While Mike is just about as good as it gets in the mandolin...
