    Re: Picking over the fretboard?

You're probably referring to crosspicking. There's a lot of info out there on it.

Re: Why So Few Resonator Mandolins?

Interesting discussion. I've wanted a RM-1 a quite a while and live within 15 miles of Rich Del Grosso but never made the commitment. So, after the weekly bluegrass jam, a fiddler and I end up at the...

    Re: ChordU.....this look intersting

I played around some and it must be an AI recognition program. Some wrong chords but it's funny to see it try to handle the background noise and cut scenes.

Re: Your Thoughts On D'Addario XT Strings

I have a set on now for about 3 weeks. They've held up pretty good through the holiday jamming/gigging season and still sound good and even toned. They're a little bright for the first several hours...

Pretty neat. And here I am being old school and listening to a track over and over again. :)
  10. Re: Tonedexter - neat new DI/pre for acoustic instruments

I agree as most here probably do. The audience wants a show but the musician's ears need to be happy too otherwise it's brutal. Chasing that sound is for our benefit not their's.

Man, I haven't been on in a year and a half, maybe two, and right back into the thick of it with a "what's the best" discussion. :) Good to be back. I've used my buddies Polytune an Stroboclips. I...

Re: Flatwoind strings on an acoustic mandolin

Dave had great tone and was a beast. I have Live at Ovations in my car even though it's damaged. Still sounds great between the skipping. Kelly Lancaster on guitar doesn't hurt either.
  20. Re: Using a capo to make string changes easier...

Nope.I haven't cut my strings for years. I take a hard edge (like my keys) and run my strings over them turning them into curly ribbons. I can't stand piercing myself with short bits of wire..
