A good CD of Bulgarian tamboura music that I've been listening to lately is "The Bulgarian Tamboura" by the Valeri Dimchev Trio.
I too have been very happy with my Kentucky 250S (aside from a little tailpiece woe which was easily, and inexpensively, resolved).
It's got a very respectable tone and feel for the price.
There's a Bill Monroe documentary of sorts called "Bill Monroe: The Father of Bluegrass" which, as you can guess, features plenty of mandolin playing.

Mandolins can sometimes be found in Italian films. #(Perhaps this is not what you're after though.) #
I suggest "The Bicycle Thief" as there are, if my memory serves, at least two scenes featuring...
