Wow!! It looks amazing, I love the choice of color and the binding is stunning. I'm very excited to see and hear the finished result. Congrats!!
I'm pretty sure the new F5-G's have a radius fretboard and medium sized frets. Gibson's description:
"The F-5G is a Modern Collection version of Gibson’s iconic F-5 design. Tuned to the needs of...
I'm sure this has been addressed many times on here, but please excuse starting another conversation. I've been beating on mandolins for around 20 years, I can play pretty well but I feel my right...
I have an '89 Flatiron Performer A, it has the integrated fret board and tone bar braced. Really a great sounding mandolin.
Happy Birthday!! May your MAS stay strong.
You could possibly protect the finish using the clear cling-on type pick guard material.
That is concerning, I'll report back any feedback I get.
(update) I received an email apologizing for the "short" string sets and they are going to send me the 6 missing strings.
I ordered 3 sets of Stringjoy strings. They came today, unfortunately all three sets had but one A and one E string in the per set. I was able to put a full set together from the 3 sets, they sound...
I don't like when people do this but caveat emptor.
Yeah with todays prices I was surprised to see it priced as it was.
I like it a lot, 1990 model, tone bar braced, sounds and plays really good.
I had one of the few varnish models and regrettably sold it, if I didn't just buy an old Flatiron Performer A I'd be all over that one.
Waverly Anniversary String Winders seem to be nice, they are kind of pricey.
Any word on when these will hit the market?
"All that said, right around the regular street price of 855 (if that were on option) there is a Bozeman made Flatiron Performer on Reverb at the moment."
Not anymore. wink, wink
The Mandolin Store currently shows to have two F5G models available.
It's the way Gibson does it, my A9 was labeled Master Model. Go figure.
A lot of the reflections in the finish lead me to believe it has a varnish finish. Lovely mandolin regardless.
Not at all mandolin related, but, while I was in the Navy our destroyer (USS Moosbrugger) navigated the St. Lawrence and moored up in Quebec. We spent a week on liberty and the ship was opened to...
No doubt, I've been watching the "modern" Gibson market ( 1999-2023) for the last year, there are very few F5 mandolins available. Either people are holding what they have of "investors" are buying...
The last 3 items I sold on Reverb had bogus inquires and offers, they are easy to spot, I forward them to Reverb.
I hope you get them back, sometimes good things happen. I bought a mandolin in 2012 from Keith Newell after a couple of weeks of owning the mandolin I found a small Altoids tin full of picks in one...
That's a great mandolin for a good price. You'll never have a problem being heard as the 515V has plenty of volume and solid chop, it should take you far. Congrats!
It makes no difference, lots of folks skip those on purpose.
