Unscrew the pin, then place the strap with the nickel over it and resecure the pin through them both

I drilled a hole through a nickel, works great.

I stand corrected. I have freepickin as one of my favorites on the computer and it loads as such. You can still access the mandolin videos on youtube.

Music Moose is defunct; but Freepicking is still up and running. When I just checked freepicking I noticed I am a subscriber, maybe thats your problem.

Spread the pins slightly and place them back into the holes on the neck. They're just held in by pressure when first installed.

I bought Nile's book in the first year of my mandolin odyssey, and can't say enough as to how it has helped. Went back and bought two others. Great books!
