Bessie Lee still looks great too!
I have one of those "mickeys". Plays good and has a good tone but absolutely no volume. Oh well.......
I prefer the A style. I love the simplicity of the design and the balance of weight. Of course I've been called simple quite a bit over the years....
Can't wait for that box set!!! I have the book by Tom Ewing and it is really great. Well worth the read especially if you're into the history of Monroe and the music.
Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver - Thank God
Parliment Funkadelic - The Best Of
I still prefer the tuning fork if noise level allows but otherwise, I use the Intellitouch.
EXCELLENT!
Wow, thanks for all of this Darryl! I was at the Denton festivals where you took those pics. Great memories for sure.
I LOVE 'EM!!!!!
Hey, If I could own Big Mon's Loar, I wouldn't have a bit of trouble playing it. (Well, maybe after I lowered the action http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif )
Congrats!! Would love to own one myself someday!
"Flat thirds and cold stares at anyone who tries to better you."
LMAO!!!!! That's the best description I've heard yet! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
...
The band thing is fun as far as seeing folks enjoy and appreciate what you're doing for them but I really like the informality of a jam session. Greg H. of the cafe has a closed session on occasion...
I would definitely buy some stickers.
Very saddening news. I met Charlie at IBMA a couple years ago. He was such a personable guy, never met a stranger.
LOL! No danger of decibels with mine! It does have a nice dry tone that reminds me of Norman Blake and the sounds he gets but volume? Ha! Forget it.
I have one of those! Plays like a dream. Now if I could only hear the thing....... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
Closed fingers and no plant for me. Just felt natural. Total opposite on guitar though. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
Now that's COOL!
VERY nice!
The Vintage is an exceptional mandolin. All of Don's mandolins are just perfection. I always loved the one that Lou Reid played, it has excellent tone. I also played one at IBMA a couple of years ago...
Dang it! I had already fell in love with that nuclear burst back! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I've never owned one but they are nice mandolins. Really great price to get the quality plus a varnish finish.
Our band uses the PG-81 for all instruments. It's the best mic I've used since the SM-57 for instruments. They have a flat response and we have no feedback problems. Road worthy and durable also.
70281 is an incredible sounding mandolin. I've heard it on a couple of occasions. A real power house.
