I am looking for opinions on the market value range for a Montana Flatiron Festival F Performer series mando. It is the series with the integrated fretboard extension. It has a cast tailpiece and...
Thanks, Nick - I thought so. It's a nice mando with a moderate volume as its main drawback, although it has an absolutely hellacious chop.
I'm looking at a Festival F Performer series with serial # 95101259. It has the integrated fretboard. Is the serial # from the 1995 production?
Thanks!

The examples of what he is looking for suggest the poster has some lofty goals. :disbelief:
A grand display of grammatical preening. You certainly don't want to fail to enjoy not missing this one!
Also look up Jarrod Walker who is in Lithia, just outside Tampa. An expert way beyond his 18 years.
I was a non-believer, but I'm ashamed to admit that the Mayans were right. The world is gone. It's nothing but blackness! There's no one! Wait...it's just still dark out. Never mind.
Start out playing the 4 finger G chord shape up the neck at the B position. This allows you to become comfortable with the pinky stretch in a shorter scale. Keep your thumb in the center of the back...
It's clearly a Yeti with a lit stick of dynamite in its mouth - run away!
The mandolin player is in the middle of his lead break when the bass player stops and begins tuning the bass. The mando player stops the band and turns around, asking the bass player "What are you...
With IA, a penny saved is a headache earned. Talk to Robert at Folkmusician.com or Dennis at the Mandolin Store, any MC sponsor. Get good service, good setup, good price, and no headaches.
That certainly appears to be the consensus, Doug. I'm grateful for all the informed responses here, and truly believe that my minuscule knowledge of mandolin construction has been expanded...
OK, count me in,too! I haven't played a 700 series yet, but I'm definitely a fan of The Loar mandos.
See how knowledgeably confident I am? I never even considered this possibility, Dale, I simply believed it was a top-only feature. Thanks!
Actually, confidence doesn't come close to "fairly aware." :)) I should maybe say somewhat aware. That means I have some vague sense that there must be a connection... Your knowledge far...
I'm fairly aware of the relationship of top graduation to ultimate sound of a finished mandolin, but would like to add to my understanding of how the recurve of the top fits into the whole picture....
Allen, in this instance, might that not be "They also serf..."?
Thanks for affirming my intuitive definition of the term, John. Your additional bibliography was enlightening. Let's pick.
Each position on the fretboard stops the core note of the string from resonating, and changes it to the higher note on the same string (or course of strings.) Don't know if that's the source of the...
Nigeria! Scam syntax right from the " Internet Scams For Dummies" manual.
It has much prettier wood than others of the same model I've seen, but AFAK the F2 Flatiron is produced in China. I've played a couple that sounded very decent, others that weren't so decent. I'd be...
I had one that was surprisingly good. At the time I had it there were numerous other MIC mandolins in the same price range and none came close in sound, playability, or looks. You chose wisely, IMO.
Why, I done that jus' this mornin' !
You've chosen wisely. Robert will treat you right, and if he has suggestions regarding upgrades (like a replacement bridge) give them serious consideration. He knows his stuff. NFI, etc.
