Does anybody know what setup specs Collings uses for there mandolins.......neck relief, nut to first fret clearance, and 12th fret string clearance ??

I too had a grea time at springfest.....played 4 sets with (fiddle) with Blueground Undergrass and played with Peter Rowan on Sunday....hung out a lot and jammed with mando and fiddle at the Pinkhams...

The problem from my experience is that even with a "std." compensated bridge the A string is still the bugger of the bunch.....intonate the E & G strings and the A string can be noticably flat.....by...

I just had the opportunity of playing two of Bob Altmans latest F-5 mandolins......these mando's were killer. They were serial #'s 34 and 35. I am very lucky in that he lives just a few miles down...

I get the idea of de-dampening but why waste the cash ....instead play the hound out of it.... you are out of no money
plus you get the benefit of building your chops up....no mechanical strummer...
