the picture of CT with the Collins next to/in front of him could easily lead a person to the conclusion that he plays these mandolins if they didn't know better

i'd love to find an alternative to my Blue Chips
i've got 3 new to playing an instrument mandolin students
2 started in their late 40's and 1 started at almost 60
don't forget that you have 36 years of listening to and enjoying music
quite a...
Saw them at the Lobero in Santa Barbara on Tues
One of my favorite venues for it's intimacy and great sound
Hit me exactally as Arthur described it
Great but could have been Soooo much better...
Saw them at IBMA a few years ago and, as they were getting ready to play, it appeared that the banjo player was having tuning issues in that he kept reaching over his banjo's neck with his left hand....
A large part of the little fingers function is to initiate closing one's hand. When closing your hand the pinky will go first. When the other fingers are closing on something, in this case a neck,...
and now we find a couple of the above mentioned Givens previously? owned by "Red" for sale in the emporium
I'd love to try that 12 string
Thanks for the 411 Eddie
but I'd sooner pay the $4800 I don't have for the clean blond '10 than the $2100 I don't have for the boogered '07 ;-)
Wondered if you'd show up here Dan
Did you miss accumulating this one?
How 'bout Dawg swooping on that 3 point in the classifieds?
Eddie,
You got a Foley!
Ok
for all you desifanado Snark lovers seeking stealth:grin:
the evil empire
aka Guitar Center
has the infernal little snarky things in black
but
I've tested the snarks with my strobes
they are cheap
they are easy to see
but they are NOT accurate
The Snark is not accurate
I gave mine away
the AW 2 is but it's a bit flimsy
the stroboclip is very accurate but a bit large on a mandolin
I have both and use the korg more
I also own and use...
I'd rather see a tuner on a headstock
than hear someone play out of tune
I've been very happy with guitars from Republic
in my experience they're far and away the best Asian made resonators
I've seen this happen with EVERY shipping service
Sorry to see this happen to you and the Vega Eddie
Out of a collection of really good tuners
I use the iStrobo the most
and no
a mic on any tuner will not work well in a noisy room
Mike's looks like a "real" Shutt with original case
not a Harmony
well worth restoring
My Harmony Shutt is a really nice little mandolin
Check your PM's
Understood
difference here being that the man graduating the top and dialing in the sound, finish, & feel of the instrument is the maker whose name is on the label
I've played and owned/own factory...
The Ellis is handmade
The Collings isn't
I find handmade acoustic instruments preferable most of the time
not always
but mostly
Some percieve small changes in sound
more than others
Your own ears should be your guide
as to advise on how mandolins work
you can't do much better than Joe Vest
Well 01 to you!
Can you help a computer idiot get to the Compton & Marshall Q&A's?
