I played several flat fretboards for years and had soreness in my fretting hand all of the time. I purchased a Collings with a radius and the pain went away. Three years later I decided to get one...
Don't rehearse the songs all the way through just to work on certain sections. Learn to focus on kickoffs, turnarounds, endings, etc and then move on to the next song.
One thing that really...
Living in the South you can leave your instruments out of the case due to the high relative humidity. Kids, dogs, and cats are close to the ground wherever you live.
Go with a wall hanger.
You will be glad that you did it yourself. No one knows how you want your setup done better than you.
I bought one of these many years ago and it has payed for itself over and over again.

You could also look at it as an opportunity to learn how to set up a mandolin and then sell it.
The sooner you learn how to set up action and intonation the better.

Different pickups have different output levels before you put them through a preamp to boost them. If they are not the same and you are using...

I just got my hands on a Fishmand Loudbox Artist amp and boy, does this thing sound nice! I have been using the Roland AC-60 for years and it is really nice too, but for one thing I got tired of the...
Here is mine. Nothing fancy but it has really helped keep things under control.

I am also a fan of the K&K twin and I have one installed on my Collings MF5 which I then run through a Baggs Venue and into a Roland AC-60 amp.
In small situations if works fine and in larger...
I've never liked poodles.
Avi,
I have used the Stew Mac endpin reamer with a power drill about a half dozen times and have not had any problems. The existing tapered endpin hole just guides the bit right on in with very...
I use the Zoom H-1. There is a switch on the side that selects wav or mp3. It has a big button on the front. Hit the button and you are recording, hit it again and it stops. Plug it into your PC...
"As far as the action on each mandolin, I guess that's also where you and I differ. I saw no use in talking about that because they were all quality instruments, and if the action doesn't work for...
There are a few neatly priced Collings MF5's to be found on the Classifieds right now. If you don't like what you get, sell it. They hold their value very well. And frankly, saving about $2000...
Not all folks have end pins to put a strap on. Many have 1/4" jacks down there. And they would be the first to tell you that once you get it on securely, leave it alone. For years I have been...
