Wow. Lefty heaven. Looks like a nice 70's P-bass and strat, as well as a Fletcher tenor, and a Radcliffe mandolin and a Flatiron something or other.

163265It might be a bit wider than mine
Originally soprano was tuned a full step higher, aDF# B, but cGDA is more common now. dGBE or DGBE for baritone, but because of the short scale on a baritone (compared to a guitar), it can sometimes...
That sounds like ukulele tuning at the same pitch as a soprano or tenor? Most tenor guitar players that use guitar style tuning use DGBE. I'm not sure that you could do C tuning that low at 23".
Interesting guitar. Except for the staggered tuners and the fretboard end curving around the sound hole, it's a Regal. Maybe a copy? Unlikely to want to reproduce that fancy inlay around the sound...
Sweet. Who cares if the guitar has a few extra strings.
I've haven't seen a Regal in a performance setting on Youtube. Jake, at Antebellum has very good recordings of a number of Regals. Very accurate representation of how they sound. Jake also uses DGBE...
I had an all birch one for awhile and it sounded nice, but not as rich. I agree that the spruce top is what's important.
I love my Regal. 21" scale is great for CGDA, less so for GDAE, but I didn't do a lot of research as far as string gauges for that tuning. Mine is spruce and mahogany and often is the loudest...
The 27" Martin Plectrum is not a tenor guitar. It's a plectrum guitar, based on a plectrum banjo, which is tuned differently. I have an old Regal as well, and have tried the various tunings. It's...
I string my Airline e-mandola single course, with a double A course, so it's a tenor guitar as far as I'm concerned. But putting a 21 or so inch dedicated tenor guitar neck on it might be interesting.
Lefty F something or other in the 1910 Harnett orchestra photo.
Bansitar!!! I want one. Left-handed.
23" is too long of a scale in my opinion. .010 on my 21" Regal is still pretty tight. Were/are there the same issues with tenor banjos? I know there are several scales available for them. If the...
You're probably saving $50 or so if you can keep the existing bridge base and just get a compensated lefty top, assuming it's properly carved for the arch.
Turning a right handed A style into a lefty will cost about $150, give or take. I did it with an old Stradolin and it sounds/plays fine. New nut, new bridge top, and setup. That cost would be the...
Beautiful sounding. It doesn't look like the cone assembly can be rotated easily to compensate the saddle like on a Dobro spider. Theres a screw keeping it perpendicular to the neck. But maybe that...
My issue with the original Thile/Marshall video is that Fischer's Hornpipe, or any traditional folk fiddle tune is not well served by the musical treatment. A few nods to revoicing the harmony and a...
It's a baritone. The saddest of all ukuleles.
The Ozark gets very good reviews, and is I believe, unavailable in North America, so I'm looking forward to the Kala. Too bad it's not available as a lefty, though.
It's a custom shop model. The potential differences between it and mine, which is 3 or so models down from the top of the non-custom models are: mahogany neck with rosewood peg head veneer, instead...
The Martin terz case is a good fit? I've checked out a few hard cases including the one designed for the small Taylors, and yes the longer body width of the Regal was an issue. I have the original...
That model is 2 down from the top for these Regal tenors. Above is the rosewood model, below are several spruce/mahogany models, followed by spruce/birch and all birch which was the last model...
I tune my Regal tenor 21inch scale down a whole tone and capo at the second fret. Shorter scale, tension is not as high and it sounds great. I also often play without the capo making it in Bflat....
