I find myself without a bouzouki (traded it for a mandolin) but starting to get back in the market. Bouzouki World USA has what looks like a decent line of Greek-style models, most of which would...
Just ran across this album --- badass stuff.
Big Muddy is the way to go, if you want a flattop. Solid wood, solid craftsmanship, no frills.
I believe I would like this better with just the OM, without the ambient sounds that ebb and flow in the background.
Will you be doing some lefties?

$699 pre-order at Elderly. I believe I'd get one of those, if they had it in a lefty.
So a wee baby guitar body mandolin / mandola? You intrigue me, sir. I am intrigued.
I was playing a CGDA resonator tenor at an Irish session for a bit . . . I used plenty of capo on the second fret, but you could also do some cool stuff in D without the capo, like a modal DADA chord...
"Jerdan Am A Hard Road to Travel" and "Down the Old Plank Road."
Very, very tempting, but they also have the electric mandocello coming out soon . . .
No news on these yet. I'm going to shake the tree periodically.
Eastwood Mandocello is fully funded, locked and loaded, and expected to ship April 30. Available in Vintage Cream or Cherry, and it appears they will be doing a run of lefties, in case John Doyle...
Tuned in 5ths, it's quite a stretch if you're used to about a 23" tenor.
25.5 inch scale length means this would function very well in GDAD tuning, in case you wanna do a Pogues / Great Big Sea / Dropkick Murphys thing.

"Over on Mandolin Cafe's CBOM board, there's been some recent talk about getting you guys to do a mandocello."
"Oooh, you have heard rumors correctly Sir, there is a mandocello in the oven right...

The good people at Gold Tone confirm that a mandocello is "in the oven."
I'm going to need one of those. I've had one of their bouzoukis...
I believe http://www.woodsongguitars.com/ is a sister company of Gold Tone, and it does acoustic guitars.
I'd prefer they use a non-cutaway model, since that would allow for some lefties (GT is...
I'm curious --- did you get down to any specifics regarding the proposed build? I've actually leaned on them a little about doing some kind of zouk-guitar hybrid, since no one is doing an affordable...
I'd buy a (lefty) Gold Tone mandocello (or a 10-string cittern) in a heartbeat. I have had a Gold Tone bouzouki (26 1/4 inch scale) for a year or so and it's a good quality instrument, but lately...
Nice to have the option to drown out the banjo, but as a great reso player once said . . . just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Been thinking about selling my '33 National tenor because I haven't been playing out, and it's too nice to sit in my basement. But I just started a push to get a once-a-month bluegrass service going...
I think the very existence of Selmer-Maccaferri EFS tenor guitars is a good argument for your approach, and I'd love to hear it.
On the ELS reso, there's just so much of that midrange punch that I...
Delsbrother, I'm just faking it as best as I can. To me, four-note closed chords sound best, and that Texas Fiddle Backup PDF (you know the one?) appears to have enough of those to keep a man busy. ...
