  1. Re: What The ???? Thile & Friends, last night at Carnegie Hall!

Chris Eldridge (guitarist for the Punch Brothers) graduated from Oberlin. (So did Lloyd Loar). (And Jeremy Denk).
We should not be too surprised when the Punch Brothers pop in for a visit and a gig.

    Re: La Arvelita

I think that it is called "La Arboleda" (the grove). The version I have (from Puerto Rico) is by Pedro Padilla. Great tune!

    Re: Mandolins in Milan

Back to the original posting. Looks like the guitar/mando combination in the photo has two mandolins that seem to be exactly the same scale (not a mandola and and mandolin). Do we suspect that these...

Interesting mic setup-I haven't seen him use that before. If you like progressive jazz (or Bela and the Flecktones), check this one out (with Hermeto!)

I have not been to Kaufman Kamp, but have heard the same kind of positive feedback. As a westerner, you may want to consider the Mandolin Symposium (hopefully it will remain in the west). I have...

Re: The Power of Not Caring

"Not caring" was a bit tongue in cheek on my part-- "non-attachment" seemed too high fallutin' at the time, but mando players are generally a very evolved crowd!
    Non-attachment to sounding good, to...

    The Power of Not Caring
