I've had XM for a couple of years. It's great! If you're comparing it with Sirius, I think the music selection is mostly a matter of taste. There are so many channels on both that it probably doesn't...

I recommend taking your mandolin down to Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto.
I know this instrument. It is a very good instrument, but there was some customization done to the neck and fretboard. Just call Gryphon for details, since they have undoubtedly worked on it and can...
This is a great idea! Hopefully it will help recover these instruments. Thanks.
Try Ricky Skaggs' "Soldier of the Cross."
OOO! Now they're there. Very nice!
Where are the pictures? I don't see them on the instrument raffle site.
My first mando was one of those cheap Rogue models. It was the quietest mando I have ever played, by a lot. I could only stand it for about a month (there were other problems too, but for under $100,...
Wow! That looks like a lot of work! I hope mine won't be as serious as that. Little did you know, Frank, that your shop is the most likely place to do the work on this, since it's only 100 miles from...
Thanks for the good info. I think I will have it planed, refretted, and scooped (or maybe abbreviated). That all sounds much easier than what I had feared. I think it's worth it. Although the finish...
Paul-Thanks for your help. What should I tell the luthier so he will know what not to do in the future? That the trussrod was too tight? I would like to be able to articulate to him what might have...
There is a trussrod, and the shop straightened the neck the best they could. Actually, it was much more playable when they finished. I would really like it to be better, though.
I'm hoping some of you builders/luthiers can give me some advice on what to do about the warped neck of an F5 mandolin I have. Overall, I like the mandolin and want to keep it, so I'm willing to have...
Sounds great!
I've owned two A-800's. I think they were both made in the 90's. They were pretty decent for fairly low end instruments, and they looked nice. One was really heavy and had a thick top. The tone...
Great suggestion, Berkeleymando! Maybe I'll try it. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
BTW, Berkeleymando, so far I like the sound of the C tuning better, although I haven't experimented much. It will be fun to play with someone else to see how it sounds with other instruments. My band...
It's a wonderful instrument with a great tone and volume. I have found it to be very easy to play too, maybe because my hands are not all that big. Now the normal size mandolins feel kind of big and...
Thanks, Johnny! I'll check out those options.
This is probably a really dumb question, but since the last post mentioned it, I'll ask anyway. What do you do about the radiused fretboard? I've given up using capos because they don't work unless...
That boosted my self-esteem, so I'll post one more. The piccolo is obviously the smallest one!http://############/alt6gy.gif
Now that the deal is done and I have the piccolo in my possession, I'll try to post a picture or two. Don't know if it will work . . .http://############/alt737.gif
Just a quick update: after doing some investigating, I decided I wanted to get in on the bidding. Fortunately for me, there weren't a lot of bids, so I was the high bidder. Now the seller and I are...
Anybody? Feel free to send me a private message if you know something but don't want to post it on the board. Thanks.
I'd really like to know about this too. Does anybody have direct knowledge about the status of this instrument?
