Thanks for your useful thoughts. I’d wondered about Regal, but you’re right - the presence of a zero fret suggests European manufacture.

A guy is selling his tenor guitar - 210030says it’s a Kalamazoo. I’m pretty sure it isn’t- certainly not with this headstock shape. (Obviously the nut is wrong).
Any idea what it might be, you...
Ah sorry, I’d forgotten I’d posted about this before. It’s not mine - it’s in a nearby music store. The photos I posted previously were ones the owner sent me - I finally got to see it yesterday....
Here’s an odd one. It’s a de Meglio style body but dig the weird key operated tuners, the rollers in the bridge and nut, and that the strings are four single strings with loops at both ends doubled...
Thanks all, glad you find it as curious as I do! I’m going to try and see it in the flesh shortly and will report on sound/tuning etc

I usually use my 1920 F2 for blues. I prefer that fatter ringing sound of a round hole. Whether slide is preferable too is arguable lol!

I'll be teaching blues mandolin at the Cape Cod mandolin camp in September if that's of interest?
It'll be acoustic country blues but there's a huge crossover with blues licks on electrics.
Cheers...
Lol! Thanks Anton :)
Here's a couple of clips if you're interested - lots more out there ;)

On the whole you might save a bit over UK prices but it's fraught with potential pitfalls... The best solution is to buy from Trevor and let him take the risk! ;)
Also you can go try the instrument...
See group photos here for more eye candy! http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/group.php?groupid=224&do=grouppictures
and well worth visiting the gallery on Andy's website for astonishing instruments...
Hey, thanks all - some great suggestions and help! Wish I was coming for longer but its just a week.
My wife manages a rock band who are touring so she'll be over for longer, I'm just going for...
Heading over to L.A. and area for a week in beginning of March.
Anything I should check out round there?
Interesting music venues, jams, vintage instrument stores?
Not sure if I'll be taking...
Well, when I say 'arranged' I mean adapted by ear rather than anything more studious! However I thought someone here might find it interesting!!
Mandolin is an 1886 Angara e D'Isanto (Vinaccia...
Lol! What - you mean a b***j*?? ;)
Thanks though!

I'll second Andy Manson - he's been making fabulous instruments for the great and good for many years. He uses stunning woods and every instrument tends to be a one off design and a work of art...
Do OM's count?!
