I definitely think that dedicated acoustic amps are the best for acoustic mandolins, and I don't really play a true electric mandolin - that said...
I've been using my mandolin with small tube...
Leshii is Dave Caulkins. You can have my secret identity now, since I've been around here for 7 or so years - I guess I can trust y'all with that :)

Whereas I can understand the sentiments to a degree...
I also tend to disagree with the inherent need, or perceived presence, of anger in metal musicians. In fact, amongst all the crowds of...
I listen to Death Metal like I watch horror films... I'm not looking for fine art there http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
(I'm not a Cannibal Corpse fan either, or...
Scandinavian metal is a whole 'nother world...
Opeth is an amazing Death Metal band, to the point where I feel bad even using that moniker for them. Their album "Damnation" however is STRAIGHT...
Yup, I likes me some Thrash metal (Kreator are one of my absolute faves in the style)and I count Iron Maiden as one of my major mandolin influences. I'm also a fan of other metal/punk from that...
Howdy Folks, (and please bare my rant)
This is a topic that I have prior to now received very little relevant information on (at least there is POSITIVE conversation about it here). I have wanted...
Really enjoyed. Thanks!

Y'know, I let a 205 go a couple of years ago (for a Gretsch Duo-Jet... Drop the stones... <ducks>), and I do really miss that instrument. Tonally, it was very hard to beat...
My problem? I can be...
I really enjoy this set, and the fact that it DOESN'T teach tunes is one of my favorite parts. It is pure theory, maybe a bit heavy or meandering at points, but it is a very good basis. I've listened...
I'm not certain if this is applicable to a Mandobird, but on some guitars you can adjust the pickup height via the screws. I would try to loosen the right hand side, perhaps shimming it lightly...
I respect your opinion, yet I still stand by my comments. Have you tried raising the treble side?
I'm currently trying to electrify my Cascade, and going through the process of finding a suitable...
The Mandobird really isn't a piece of junk, even with the weak "E" problem. What it is, is what it is. It's an inexpensive imported $200ish mandolin with electronics appropriate to its price range....
I'd love to hear examples of a Cascade (or any Breedlove) in Bluegrass! I confess that I tend to think of my instrument as a Jazz/Country/Folk style Mando, and it's set up as such. I'd love to hear...
I convert a bit of guitar tab... In topic, I've worked on a few Iron Maiden and Danzig pieces. My major concentration has been adapting Stray Cats era Setzer... It doesn't adapt easily.
I change...
Gretsch has been off-shore for quite some time, but y'know... I actually like Japanese guitars <ducks>
Back in my "metal days", I had a Japanese Jackson Kelly (think Marty Friedman from Megadeth)...
Thanks for the responses!
I'd love to buy another mandolin, but THAT isn't in the cards unless I like being homeless (the wife may understand MAS, but it's not condoned!)...
Well, y'know... being a guitar player for much longer and a Gretsch advocate - the Stray Cats (well, Setzer) only pointed out that they were great guitars - I'm very loyal to their old/new axes...
Ok, this may seem like sacrilige to those who are trying to preserve their beautiful acoustic tones but I'm looking to mount a pickup on my Breedlove Cascade - preferably via neck mount, secondly by...
Currently, Thomastik Starks. Mittles cut too much volume, Starks seem near perfect - and they really do last as long as everyone says... my guitar player years make me a little lazy on changing eight...
Yup, I also have an A5-2...

Borrowing the format from above... (thanks)
...got interested in mandolin by listening to bluegrass. - It was probably Grisman for me, via The Grateful Dead. I hate to admit it but REM had an...
Funny thing is that this list starts with my wife playing a mandolin I bought and stopped playing and deciding that she wanted a GOOD mandolin... and then I came around to my senses and started...
