If it has to be WHITE, I would look into some kind of synthetic material. In the olden days, you would've used ivory. IMO those old Martins etc. looked AWESOME. But I have no idea whether it had any...
You know, I think that saying was originally meant as a positive statement on teaching, i.e. that an aging Master could pass on knowledge to an able apprentice, who would then perpetuate those skills...
So if I understand the video correctly, technically (though not legally) the mandolin still belongs to Tut? Talk about awkward.
He is quite well known in the Hawaiian (i.e. steel) guitar community. Ben Harper plays one of his instruments, FWTW.
It would be easier to just order (and pick it up) when you go in for your lesson.
I'm going to guess you have one in your pocket.
LOL, what is this, 1913?
Just waiting for decent (ehrm, any) choice in color...

In any case, if it's similar to the one I purchased (and returned) off of eBay it really isn't anything special - and...

LOL I was thinking the same thing.
That's a lot of work for not much pay, though. :)
If you like the guitars, you'll like the mandocello. Are you looking to amplify? If so, I would look for a used Ovation - they can be found for $1K or less. If money were no object, order a new one....
Where was the body contouring in the original? Since everyone who's seen one has commented about the weight maybe that might be a place to "customize" first.
Also, just from looking at old photos...
So, just to clarify things for me, Tiny Moore was a very large man, no? It was one of those reverse nicknames?
Just go to any Guitar Center and buy an electric one. I went the other day and there must've been 50 of them in there.
