Re: Peghead logo on Rogue mando

Thanks for the reply. It does look like it has clear coat, I can handle that, but matching black is harder than it sounds.

    Peghead logo on Rogue mando

Is the gold logo on a Rogue A-style painted on? If so, could it be sanded off leaving black finish under it? I would like to have the peghead be plain black but don't want to ruin the finish. Thanks...

If I bring a couple of extra mandolins to share is there a procedure for keeping track of them? I remember things being a little hectic the last time. I am looking forward to this, it's a great...

I was there for the previous attempt, and I plan to come all the way from Maine to do it again. Let's make this happen!
  6. Re: Anyone change the tailpiece on thier "The Loar" 700?

I've got an LM 700 and the tailpiece is really thin, they should be heavier gauge metal. I also have a 49.99 Rogue and it has a better tailpiece than the Loar. Go figure.

Re: Review and comparison 'The Loar LM-700 VS'

My LM-700 has the same issues, poor finish around scroll and at base of neck on the scroll side, and under the fretboard extension, otherwise the finish is thick but OK. Binding is not bad. The...

Re: The singer doesnt play an instrument?.....

At least if they stand up there with no instrument, they are being honest. My gripe is the ones who stand there with an instrument and never play a note, it is just used as a prop. You know the type,...

Re: Buying My First Mandolin - LM 700

It really is best to buy a mando in person at the store. That is what most people will tell you. I wish I had listened.

There is a good selection of tunes in the Fiddlers Fake Book. "Start up the Square Dance" could have been "Seneca Square Dance", a popular OT tune. There is a Mandolin Players Fake Book also, but I...

We had several fiddles, a mando, guitar, upright bass, flute. When some went off into harmony parts it wasn't bad.

Have you read Roger Siminoff's mandolin building book? Lots of good info there and the book is easy to get.
  25. Re: Has the Secret Been Discovered to Surpass the Stradivarius?

OK how about approaching this from a non technical side.... Stradivarius built really good violins. People that played them or heard them could pretty much tell that they were really good. Old...
