Re: Can I get more JazzMando picks?

Definitely different. I would also be interested in acquiring some. Mine are getting worn down.

    Re: K & K Internal Pickup

I use K & K on everything. I run it through an Orchid preamp or a Dean Markley Pro 250 amp if I need to cut through. Sounds best with the preamp and a Shure SM57 mic.

    Re: Strings for toxic fingers

I have the same problem. It improved GREATLY after I quit smoking five years ago but it's still there. I have to wear titanium glasses. However I get about two - three weeks max out of DAddario 74s...

    Re: D'Andrea Pro Plec Question

I use the Jazz Mando Proplecs. Oh, that's right I do have a TS in my case somewhere. I forgot all about it.
  7. Re: Does anybody on this forum prefer a pick that is not a bluech

ProPlec or shell. Tried Blue Chip and it was too bright

Re: Plugging in... whatcha like? Why?

I run a K & K Twin into an Ultrasound Pro250 amp or an Orchid pre amp. Sometimes combined with an SM57 mic. I'm really happy with the K & K and use the same set up for guitar.

    Re: clip on tuners

My eight year old Intelli IMT500. Don't ask me why it works so well. I've gone through a few batteries. We checked it with a Peterson and spot on. Go figure. Have another old one with no more light...

Re: How much would you pay for a pick?

I've spent 40 on TS. Bought a BlueChip TPR60 one time and let it go after a bit, just too bright. Like ProPlecs but always go back to my TS for both mando and guitar. I've never completely lost one...

Re: Intelli IMT-500 vs 'Other' tuners.

Time for a Snark with all the great reports. I've had the Intelli 500 since it came out about 6 or 7 years ago. The one I use still works great with a little ear sweetening. I don't care about it...

Blue Chip with round bevel anyone?

Thinking of giving Blue Chip another try but this time with a round bevel. Has anyone here ordered one that way? Comments?

    Re: Re-sizing a Calton case?

I wanted to do the same thing. I have a '59 J45 and it's too wide at the bout for a Calton dread. No way to change that. I got it in but there's no way it would close even if reupholstered. Just too...

Re: Small acoustic amp for mandolin AND guitar

I just got a used Ultrasound Pro-250 from Musicians Friend last week after a couple of months of indecision. I am beyond pleased. I have K & K's on all my instruments with no internal mics and it...

Re: Has anybody tried Gibson Bill Monroe strings?

JS74's? I've used them in the past and liked them quite a bit. I used to think they were the same as Gibson monels but that's not the case. In his interview, Mike Compton says he uses JS74 sometimes....

    Re: Blue chip picks

You owe it to yourself to try one because so many folks love them. I found it to be too bright and resold it. My total cost was $5 for a month with a BC TPR60. Those picks are very well made and...

    Re: Disappointed in mandolin purchase

Is the bridge seated well? Any gap between the base of the bridge and the mandolin top anywhere? Sometimes when you change strings it can pull forward just a bit. That can make quite a difference.
  23. Re: No right answer but what do you think why - Pick selection

Right now I'm using either a 1.5 large triangle tortoise shell or a D'Andrea ProPlec and once in a while a slightly rounded 1.5 Dunlop with a little rhinosaures on it. I use the same pick for all...

Re: Case for 60s Gibson J45

It's not been my experience as the J45 is a short scale slope shoulder. The case I have now, I wrap a towel around the peg head so it compensates for the slope shoulder and it doesn't move around....
