I'm very happy with my jbovier.

He broke a string only once......and he did it on purpose to scare the other strings. His mandolin has been in tune ever since.

And it can even PEEL a TOMATO!

I've been wanting to say this for a long time, but the fact that I've never heard of it before make me think there is a problem I'm not thinking of...but why aren't there any instruments with tuning...

Wouldn't that, if done right, sound pretty cool? It would probably need it's shape and size tweaked, but it seems like a natural progression for the mandolins evolution.
