Thanks for this. I saw them in Phoenix on this tour. I don't remember the instruments, but I do remember how awesome the acoustic set was.
We've got tickets for the show in Durham this Thursday. Saw them a few year ago, and was amazed.
I loved their set at Wide Open Bluegrass this year. Very happy to know I'll get to see them one more time at Merlefest!
Reminds me of a fun band who call themselves Blueground Undergrass.
I have a Martin Backpacker for those trips. Strapped it on back and did a 4500 mile camping tour last summer. Not the instrument for festivals, but great around the campfire. :)
No, ours are almost always at private homes. There is, or use to be, a big one at the Nightlight on Rosemary. Looks like you've already got plugged in to ours, look forward to seeing you!

Wow, you guys are fast! Another NC meetup that seems to be active again is here: http://www.meetup.com/bluegrass-144. These are mostly on the eastern side of the Triangle.
I'm in Chapel Hill, and up to jam most anytime. Let me know if you'd like to get together. I also host some open jams on meetup: http://www.meetup.com/TriangleBluegrassAcousticMusicCooperative

The sound quality from a zoom is surprisingly good. We record our jams with one with good success. I wouldn't use one for serious recording, but I do have a friend that made some demo tracks with...
Count me in! (Just let me get home from Vegas first...)

x2 My banjo player hates that!
A fun song indeed. I'm just looking though the album cover and don't see a credit for the mandolin (nice picture of one though). Anyone know who the player is?
I'm going for the first time this year, so excited!
My 515 is holding up great after about 3 years of daily play. The fabric on the case is starting to come loose at a seam, but then it has seen more than it's share of airplane rides...
Welcome, Empire! I will be in KL on 27,28 Oct, for my day job. No where near a professional, but I do have my mando with me, and always fun to meet another player. Maybe I can hear you play?

My father never cared much for music, but my sons do. Both of them came over to celebrate with me this weekend, and one of the things we did was have a great jam. One of my greatest joys is that...
Awesome!
Mooradian made me a bag for my Backpacker, and it turned out great!
If you don't find what you're looking for, and want to go custom, try Mooradian (www.mooradian.com). They made a very nice gig bag for my Martin, and it wasn't too expensive. Has held up very well...
Backpacker is what I take. The sound may be a bit funky, but no worries about damage!
