I tweeked for about a month before I was totally happy with the tone.
Tweek tweek tweek, that's my recommendation. Use it in various settings,
record it, get feedback from your buddies. Now my...
Eric,
Where are you located ? (maybe you could help me...?)
The Aura has been out for years. It probably would be much a more popular product if they put a process in place for owners to get...
Dang erick, how'd you talk them into using your own recordings? I've begged for them to let me do that...no joy... They tell me of a failed program a while back that stopped that whole deal. Boy, I...
I also found a "5" blend setting, and +3 on the bass of the pickup worked great.
Also be sure to play with the "phase" settings to match the pickup to the
image.
Be sure your programs are...
It does make sense that the pickup is very important in the Aura setup, since that's the signal being transformed. Man, if I can find someone in Nashville, that would be great!
Thanks,
Tim
I disagree. I'm using images off of their website for both my fiddle and mando, and I'm having excellent results. Of course, I based my pickup choices for both instruments on the pickups used to...
They started as a bluegrass band in Texas, got into the country market doing basically really hip, quality "bluegrass". Since country radio has dis-owned them, they now want "no part of country", but...
Yes, it could be argued, but let's not, please.

The lack of radio play is part of the "momentum" I was talking about earlier....
The direction, momentum, and creativity they had did die with that
political snafu.
They're just not the same productive entity they were.

I really enjoyed them in the past, and looked forward to all the potential
material, then they did that political junk. Very disappointing.
There's no other band like them. They were writing...
All of Matt Flinner's CD's. He's the man.
All of Sam Bush's CD's. He's also the man.

Hey,
I just contacted Fishman again about this. Here's the reply:
Tim
Cool. Thanks!

Tim
Hey, does anyone know the name of the Studio in Nashville that can help create a custom image?
Thanks,
Tim
Try Lon Williamson. He has studied with John Monteleone, and might be your man. (I have two of Lon's mandos)

I couldn't bring myself to use any of the piezos, until the Aura came along. I'm now a happy Aura owner/user, so I can say "yes" it is a significant upgrade. I just couldn't stand the "honky" tone...
I just got this reply from Stew Mac:
Tim
Easy, pay a good luthier to do it for you!

Should we discuss "plant or no plant" ?

Josh is one of my favorite singers too. Kinda reminds me of Keith Whitley.

I use the tuner built into the Fishman Aura. It's quite accurate.

I've seen them a few times, and the sonic quality they're getting with the wireless setup just hurts my ears too. Sounds "glassy" to me, and lacks the warmth those instruments certainly possess.

I use Digital Performer with a MOTU 2408MkIII, and I've done work in a few studios that also use this setup. If you're not dead set on PT, you might want to check it out.
You will use a Mac, yes? ...
