Re: Storage: Case vs Hanging on the Wall

I have three rambunctious boys. Rule number one for ALL instruments- if it's not being played, it's in the case. Otherwise, I'll have broken instruments.

I'm in DeLand (~20 miles inland from Daytona Beach) and it is getting pretty scary. Good luck everyone. Stay safe.

Re: No Weber tour in Bend- kinda bummed

Thanks for all the responses- I appreciate the insight. Rationally, I KNOW that it makes sense that companies wouldn't give tours for insurance reasons and such- and I don't hold it against them in...

No Weber tour in Bend- kinda bummed

I've been a proud owner of a Weber Special Edition F-style for several years with only good things to say about it- I love it. I was just on a family vacation in Bend and thought it would be really...

Re: Weber Gallatin vs Eastman 504?

I played lots of Eastmans a few years back when I was looking for an upgrade from my Michael Kelly...most sounded really good and I think they'd be a great choice. But I took the plunge sight unseen...
  7. Re: Solid body electric A styles - are these made anymore?

I was in the same boat a couple of years ago- I wanted an electric 8 string and couldn't really find one in my price range. So, for about $300 or so I built one (most of the cost was in the tuners...

    Re: Happy Birthday, Big Mon!

I always remember Bill's birthday because it just so happens to be mine, too! As a mandolin player, there's nothing better than sharing your birthday with Big Mon himself (well, maybe if some of the...

Re: Kentucky KM-150 or Michael Kelly A-Solid?

I have a Michael Kelly A-solid that I bought about 8 years ago when I first started playing. I've played about every sub-$500 mandolin on the market (Kentucky, Epiphone, Fender, Washburn, etc.) and I...
  11. Re: Mike Marshall's Loar and Chris Thile's Dudenbostel

I'd take either one, of course! Chris obviously likes that Loar tone, too, since he plays them pretty much exclusively now. But, if you listen to him play his Loars, his tone still sounds very...

That's a great looking strap. Hope you love it on that Fern.
  13. Re: Psychedelic and dreamy sounding effects pedals, Electric mand

I use a Digitech RP355 multi-effects processor with my electric mandolin and I love it. For under $200 you can have literally every effect ever made- from Fuzzface distortion to Echoplex delay to...
  14. Re: New Northfield F5s vs 2006 Weber Custom Bitteroot

    Joe,

I have tons of love for my Weber (and so do LOTS of others out there) so don't despair! They're great instruments and I don't know why there is so much negative talk about them. Maybe I'm...
  15. Re: New Northfield F5s vs 2006 Weber Custom Bitteroot

    Gringosid,

This thread just helps to show how tone is a completely subjective thing, and to each his/her own (and that that's ok). I have a Weber SE F and "hollow and plunky" are two words that...

Re: looking for advice from all bout mandolin future

    GratefulDel,

Why is everyone harping on your grammar and writing? They are trying to help you. The way that you express yourself to others is the way you are going to be judged by others. If you...

Re: looking for advice from all bout mandolin future

When I was 19, I wanted to drop out of college (engineering) and go to Berklee to study guitar performance. I had music in my heart and I just had to follow my dream. An engineer friend of mine (who...

Re: Weber Gallatin Or J Bovier?

    Re: Weber Absaroka Value

Doing a quick search, it looks like the Mandolin Store sold a used 2004 and a used 2005 Weber Absaroka for $1199 each. That's probably closer to what the 2006 Absaroka is worth than $1750, which...

Re: The next time you are asked to play for free....

I don't think disagreeing is the same as not understanding the issue. After reading almost 300 posts on this thread, I think most posters here (1) love to play music, (2) don't play for a living, and...

    Re: Cheap "V" Necks

My Weber Special Edition has a pronounced V-shape to the neck. I haven't played enough to know if it's typical of other Webers, but I'd assume that they're consistently built.
