There is an ad in this month's Bluegrass Unlimited for a graphite F style and what they call an A style mando. I have heard nothing about this endeavour, and lots about the Max. Must have happened on...
Thanks, John. What I'm getting at is once into the finishing process I'll occasionally have a tiny gap around the binding, both wood and plastic, that the finish I use does not want to fill. By the...
Here's the back.
I would benefit from a discussion as to the various methods you all use for filling the inevetable little gaps that occur between binding and body. Who wants to share?

I think they use the the urethane dipping method.
For those of you wishing to keep on top of advanced water based finishes I suggest you try General Finishes Precat 181 urethane. I have been very pleased with it all the way around, and found it to...

I have built both kits and did the Stew-Mac kit first. The IV kit was much easier in most respects, however, one thing I really did not like about the IV kit is that the rim and top plate come...
I'd stay clear of machinery from Harbor Freight. I've tried stuff from there several times, only to be completely dissatisfied. It's a real hassle to wait for something you've ordered form them...
You can always use it to produce a great crackle finish. Here's how we use it in decorative painting: Heat it up so as to get it into a brushable state and then apply it randomly by brush to the...
I have not had Steve slot a board for me, however, all the other bridge work of his I've had done and seen was first rate!

I've found that a few thousands makes a huge difference in bendability. In my first efforts I thinned my ribs to .115 and found myself breaking alot of wood. After talking around with other builders...
I've done this on two MK's with siginificant results. These instruments are strangled with lacquer. One I stripped completely, the other I removed the finish from the top only. I was amazed at the...
You bet, Dale.
