I took a screen shot of this group from a YouTube video. I don't have any information about them. 185122
A friend of mine here in Kansas City bought this photo from a vendor at the city market. The caption appears to be Scandinavian or German.

Here's another photo from John Dawson's Old Town Kansas City Facebook page. This is from Westport High School in Kansas City, MO circa 1905.

Another find by John Lawson. Here's a vintage photo from turn-of-the century Kansas City. This is the Mascot Mandolin Club from 1902.

Here's a photo that was just posted by John Lawson, the curator of the Old Town Kansas City 1850's - 1900's facebook group. This is the Central High School (Kansas City, MO) Mandolin Club, 1902. I...
Bill Graham and I got to take a look at this large-body Harwood at Winfield back in September. This guitar is the size of a Martin 000 and has mahogany back and sides. Like the guitar pictured in...
There's one at Mass Street Music on Oct. 21. Info here: https://massstreetmusic.com/pages/events
I have all the R. Crumb And The Cheap Suit Serenaders LPs including the 78 rpm party record. I taught myself to play mandolin by learning the old-time tunes on Kenny Hall's LP, and the Hawaiian...
When I was at the Walnut Valley Festival (Winfield) last month, I stopped by the Blue Chip booth and asked about rounding one corner of my TAD-50. They told me to send it to them, and they would do...
I use a Behringer ADI 21 for my mandolin with an LR Baggs Radius stick-on pickup and an acoustic guitar with a piezo pickup direct into our Yamaha board. It really helps to open up the sound of the...
It doesn't hurt to ask. Of course instruments on the level of a Loar are not hanging on the wall. When I was there a couple years ago I asked Stan if I could play the Loar that was listed on their...
A while back I bought an accordion that had a very strong cigarette smoke smell that was embedded in the bellows and case. I tried the solid "air fresheners" for cars, Febreze, and Odor Eaters...
Eastwood just started shipping these:

Enjoy.
Nice arrangement and nicely played, but the song is not in the key of G. In this lesson video, it is actually in D. Just try improvising in the key of G and you'll see it doesn't work. The...
I took a closer look at the Harwood in post #234. It is not a No. 60 as it has 24 ribs, not 21 as described in the catalog. Also, the ribs all appear to be rosewood, not mahogany and rosewood. ...
This appears to be a No. 60. I don't know where the seller got the 1889 date.

That hat will look good on me. Just sayin'.
Bill Graham describes the sound well in this Mandolin Cafe column from a few years back. Bill plays his Harwoods on a semi-regular basis, as do I, and I think we agree that they are fine sounding...
Mick - the un-ribbed Harwood that I inspected had a fabric liner inside the bowl. I'm guessing that it was used to reinforce the bowl.
Bob
"It looks ribbed to me. I can see glue lines spaced out regularly. The mahogany used just matches up well to the piece to its side.
Bill Snyder"
"Yeah, Bill, mine is certainly 'ribbed' in its...
I saw this last night, Mick. A low end model as the bowl is not ribbed. The interesting thing about this one is the engraved and dated tailpiece cover. It's the first time we've ever been able to...
I'm in.
My friend and occasional band-mate, Patti Nance, was going through some old photos that had belonged to her parents and had been stored in her attic for eight years. She came across this one and...
