  2. Re: Loar 79719, Dec. 1, 1924 - for sale in Seattle

The peg head drilling angle is odd for a 1924. It looks more like 1922 or early 23 angle. Has it been "redrilled?" surely not!

Re: "New" July 9 Loar out of the woodwork

Thanks Tom, for the update on my "29" Fern. I had some doubts about that myself, as I have seen others described with lower serial numbers and later dates. The "quality" you spoke of is similar to...

Re: Original Lloyd Loar F5 Case $$$$$$$$

I bought one a year or so ago for $1,500. My wife thought I was nuts. The case looked as though it had come over on Noah's Ark. I was almost inclined to agree with my wife; but now, I think I got...

    Re: 1923 Fern Loar F5

At the time I spoke with Benny Cain, the going price was $2,500.00. I can remember
a few years earlier seeing one listed in BU for $ 1,600.00. I figure that around 1970-
    1972, that a dollar would...

    Re: 1923 Fern Loar F5

Speaking of Collectors, I visited Benny Cain in Falls Church, Virginia, in September 1972. He had three Loars, I tried to get him to sell me one, and he said as long as he played, he would need...
