Well done!
What you've got there is a mandolin family fun pack. I'm jealous.

Well done!

Be sure to post up a link once you've completed your recordings. I'm very interested in hearing them in concert...
FWIW I've got a ton of those images saved in a folder on my machine at home. Google image search is one of the best things that ever happened for self taught musicians (in my opinion). I use the...
That's a nice little bluegrass lollipop you have there. Congrats!
I also played around with one for a while ...until the fella who had loaned it to me heard the sounds I was making with it...
I stand corrected! I guess I should do research before opening my big mouth …but that would be out of character.
For what its worth, the universe is punishing me for opening my big...
Those strings are for a Concert ukulele and are intended to be tuned CGDA like a Mandola, not GDAE like a mandolin. That's probably the root of your issues.
You can use high tension guitar strings...
A keeper is one that you catch yourself thinking about when you aren't holding it.
I don't own a single instrument that hasn't left the house more than once. Having said that, I admit that I have my favorites, depending on setting.
If I'll be surrounded by folks sloshing...
Happened to me too. I've been playing (or trying to) for less than two years and I have 5 of them now.
;) Welcome to the club.
SO tempting... I've played two of those and loved 'em...
That pretty much sums it up for me too.
...and is probably true of almost everyone if the truth be told.
One thing I really like about owning a high quality instrument is that even my mistakes...
I played around with a Pava over a year ago and it the sound of it still sticks out in my mind.
Be sure and play any other mandolins you have access to while you're waiting. Once you have the...
Are you sure you're using the right strings?
My little toy sounds pretty good and none of the strings are floppy. Considering how much is invested in it I'm surprised at how good it sounds.
...
I have and don't regret it.
I saw her recent show at the Paramount in Austin along with the Milk Carton Kids. It was a great show and easily worth the price of admission.
I've been a fan ...
There are quite a few videos from Animusic on youtube. All different, all pretty cool.
You can find DVD compilations of them at a lot of electronics stores (I got one out of a bargain bin a while...
I'm hoping to catch it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/
(once I work out the scheduling/time difference and set an alarm)
Thanks for the "heads up"!
You might want to ask that question in the electric mandolin section of this forum: LINK
Peruse the threads available in that link and you'll find some good info.
My opinion is hardly...
Because it can make you famous!
I know for a fact that there are whole threads devoted to banjo players.
Amazing.
Of course I've also seen a whole thread devoted to a runny nose before. ...
Timely thread! I just noticed this was out and was going to order it.
I'll now be most careful about where I aquire it. I'd hate to miss out out.
Thank you!!
Have you ever noticed how many videos created from that site were designed to heap derision upon banjos and banjo players?
I keep stumbling across nerw ones.
Maybe the universe is trying...
Accordions often make me think of Merry-go-Rounds and ice cream trucks. To me they sound a little bit like calliopes.
I grew up in Texas hearing accordion in Tejano/TexMex music (prime example:...
Ouch! Painful zinger at the end:

So buy a $100-$200 baritone ukeulele and tune it GDAE with guitar strings. That's how I cured (temporarily at least) my itch for an octave mandolin.
I have a medium sized amount of disposable...
I own that book and yes, it does have the lyrics in it.
A couple of songs have 7 or 8 verses worth. It has regular notation, tab and the chords (with chord diagrams).
A very well laid...

Mwah ha ha ha
Congratulations in advance!
I can't carry a tune in a bucket and I own a very expensive mandolin. I'm speaking from personal experience when I say that you should go for the Gibson, if that's "the one" for you.
I bought a...
You mean buy an "A" style mandolin? That's not how BILL did it.
...despite that, I've been eyeballing the Eastman MD304 (round hole).
