I own one of the older "baby Strats" works fine for me . My only complaint is the neck is too narrow . Keep in mind it is an asian mando and will not give you the qualities found in an A9.
Some of my favorites are " Come and Dine " , " Jordan's Stormy Banks " and " Gathering Flowers for the Master's Bouquet ".
In the tradition of all bluegrassers I use empty skoal cans .

Haven't been able to check in lately . The reason for the refret job is frets 1 - 7 have deep grooves that in my opinion will not dress out and the frets to my fingers feel higher from 8 - 12 . I...

Any advice will be greatly appreciated .
I must be crazy I get by using my golden gate pick on guitar as well as on my mando . I seem too lose the thin guitar picks rather easily . After all there waas atime when all picks were rounded .
I have seen some tabs that try to incorporate treble and made an unintelligible mess . I`ll stick with treble and continue with improving my ear training . After all it is mostly patterns .

Remember the words of Kenneth "Jethro" Burns , No one ever remembers the mandolin player after the show . So why sweat it .
I use an empty Skoal can to store my picks . Could it be the reason fellow pickers go else where when they need a pick .
At a jam session a fellow mandolin player told me . " Play forcefully a wrong note played meekly is a wrong note . Wrong note played forcefully is interpretation . "
