    Re: Godin A8 A/E mando

Thanks guys, that's the info I was looking for. I'll play the A8 mainly in an acoustic folk/bluegrass trio and an Irish duo with acoustic guitar. I also have a friend who plays keyboards in a prog...

    Re: Godin A8 A/E mando

I've been playing mine through a Roland Micro Cube and although it sounds good, it gets too much 'tick' and piezo quack. For gigs I'd like to run it through the PA or an acoustic amp like your...

Different tailpieces? Do you mean the tailpiece cover? Or the entire piece? I just got it so I haven't changed strings or messed with it at all.

But yes, very well built. I already own an Art and...

    Godin A8 A/E mando

Just got this A8, it's one of the new ones with an adjustable bridge. Not your usual acoustic mando, but I needed one I can amplify in a loud setting without feedback. ...

So far I'm very impressed. Came with the Godin padded gig bag, seems well made and looks good.

  12. Re: Suggestions for a north-American made A/E mando?

I hope so! The Martin strings share the same .011 E string as the J74's but the rest are are a little lighter. I put a similar set on a cheap oval hole acoustic mando I own and they sound pretty...

Re: Eight strings vs. 4 or 5?

I had a Mandobird 4 and while it played and sounded great,

I just ordered a Godin A8. I should get it within a week. Can't wait!
Did a lot of research and agree with most that if you want to go Ovation,
a used MM68 made in USA is the way to go.

    Re: Godin A8 Strings

The Godin web site lists the strings for the A8 as J74's.
