  1. Re: Saint Patrick's An Dro - Breton Tune played on an OM

Nice coincidence :-) I got this Oakwood OM just by pure chance as a bargain here in Germany. My other one I picked at a visit at Gordon and Martyn in Leeds.
  2. Je vivroie liement (Guillaume de Machaut, 14th Century) on OM

A casual recording of a 14th century Virelai 'Je vivroie liement' by the french composer and poet Guillaume de Machaut. Actually a monophonic piece of music with a single voice. So the second voice...

    Re: Oktoberfest/Bavarian folk music

By the way, there are more kinds of German trad dance music than just Bavarian music. Much less popular but very interesting.
It's hard to find transcriptions because most of those musical...
  4. Re: Saint Patrick's An Dro - Breton Tune played on an OM

    Thanks that you appreciate!
Yes, many of those Breton tunes are very easy to play and are pretty slow but groovy. And could be played with a drone accompaniment or at least some very simple chords...
  5. Saint Patrick's An Dro - Breton Tune played on an OM

After a couple of months I have taken my OM back in my hands and tried to arrange two An Dros from France. The fingers are still a bit stiff. Hope you like it anyway :-)...

Medieval Music: German Minne on OM

After I focused last year more on the guitar, me and my band now made a new recording where I could play my Octavemandolin or Cittern. We recorded a song from the 13th century by 'Nithart' or...

  10. Re: Madre de Deus - Tune from the Cantigas de Santa Maria with Oc

    Thank you Mike :-)
I think I would play it rather slow if I should sing the lyrics over the tune and it would sound very different.
  11. Madre de Deus - Tune from the Cantigas de Santa Maria with Octave

A pretty grooving and historically highly incorrect interpretation of the song "Madre de Deus" from the Cantigas de Santa Maria (13th century Spanish).

Thank you for watching this video :)

Well, you might be right ;-)

It is a small Tin Whistle from Ireland. We tried several different recorders but in the end the Tin Whistle made it. We...
  15. Medieval German Minne with Octavemandolin/Cittern

Our musical setting of a medieval German poem by Der von Kürenberg from the 12th century. Pretty folky arrangement I would say. Maybe you like it.

    Very nice!
Maybe much more lively than on a Virginal. In which order did you do the recording of the tracks? Looks like a lot of hard work to me. :mandosmiley:

Re: Just received my first bouzouki - Help :)

Do the new Horas have a trussrod? That could maybe allow a wider range of string gauges.
Referring to your video they sound much better than the old ones :-)
And it looks like the body is deeper....

Re: Instrument you wish you'd never sold/traded away?

    80ties Hamer Firebird
Vox AC 50 Bass Amp (I guess from the 60ties)

I got both pretty cheap and sold them pretty cheap. But I was young needed the money :-(
